Scholarship Opportunities


April 11th

Cal-SOAP Investment in Success Scholarship

  • Four-year scholarships up to $7,000 for students planning to attend a California Community College or California State University full-time
  • No Social Security Number is required!
  • 2.25-3.25 GPA during Junior Year
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must have a C or higher in all Math and English classes or show significant improvement by senior year. (Must have C in Algebra 1)
  • Register and apply at
  • Include transcript, your Aid Report from either FAFSA or Dream Act
  • Counselor must also nominate you for the scholarship by the deadline.

Resource Conservation Scholarship

  • Five $1,000 scholarships available to students pursuing fields related to resource conservation or agriculture
  • 2.5 GPA minimum
  • Include two letters of rec, transcript, and essay. Make 3 copies of application and materials and submit with original.

MTS & Coca-Cola Laptop Scholarship

  • Free Laptops available for 40 San Diego County residents
  • 1000 word essay on the many ways public transit can benefit the region and people of San Diego

Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego

  • Six $1,500 scholarships available

o Two scholarships reserved for Taiwanese-American students

o Four available to any ethnic or cultural identity

April 15th

Ronald McDonald House Charities/ HACER

  • Ten $2,000 scholarships available in San Diego
  • Eligible students must have at least one parent of Latino/Hispanic heritage
  • 2.7 GPA minimum
  • Letter of Rec, personal statement, and tax information included

April 18th

Future Educators Scholarship Program

  • Renewable scholarships available to students pursuing a teaching credential
  • Demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and positive references
  • Applicant must sign a letter of intent to pursue a course of study leading to a teaching credential and seek employment as a teacher in San Diego Unified School District.

o Must commit to teach in SDUSD for 3 years

  • Must attend college or university in San Diego County
  • Include two references, essay, copy of FAFSA, photo, and transcript
  • 5pm deadline

May 2nd

Kearny High Mortar Board STRIVE Scholarship

  • $500 scholarships, only for Kearny students!
  • Must be enrolled in college for Fall 2014
  • Students must exemplify scholarship, leadership, and service
  • Include an official transcript with application
  • Applications available in counseling office
